Donate to Haiti Disaster Relief

Last Tuesday, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti, ten miles southwest of Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city. Tens of thousands of Haitians have died as a result of the earthquake and its damage, and the International Red Cross has estimated that at least 3.5 million people have been affected by the earthquake. Donations to Haiti disaster relief efforts are urgent. Please give what you can to the following relief organizations in order to support Haiti in its time of need:

  • Donate to the Georgetown Center for Social Justice’s Haiti relief fund: http://socialjustice.georgetown.edu/86785.html. All donations will be directed towards the Jesuit Refugee Services, Save the Children, and Partners in Health. The CSJ also maintains a valuable list of other organizations assisting in Haiti’s disaster relief efforts.
  • Text HAITI to 90999 to send $10 to the International Red Cross’ relief effort. One hundred percent of the donation goes to aid.

  • Come to the Georgetown Unconventional Eaters’ Haiti-themed UNICEF dinner on Friday night from 6 – 8 p.m. in Henle 17. Entry to the dinner is free, but donations are strongly encouraged. All of the food for the dinner has been donated by Georgetown Unconventional Eaters in an effort to maximize donations to Haiti. RSVP at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=258456558093. If you cannot attend the dinner this Friday, please look for GUE’s table in Red Square this week, or donate online at: https://secure.unicefusa.org/site/Donation2?df_id=6680&6680.donation=form1
